Bard College at Simon’s Rock, Trail of the Nameless, spring 2023.

structures of use are predicated on structures of thought: the woods as a gallery, this exhibition as a library, or this exhibition as a seed bank. editing structures of understanding. time as a denominator in art. especially in the forest where visual/aesthetic mastery becomes more difficult to micro-manage i encouraged the artists on this project to think of their pieces as “gestures.” i wanted to do more than get people to make art then put it in the woods. i wanted to create an environment for creative invention, play, introspection, spirituality even. subversion of normal ways of thinking and making. i am still trying to figure out how to co-create this with my peers.

Thanks to artists Cassidy Clark, Valerie Fanarjian, Elaine Caligiuri, and Emma Waters.

Special thanks to Imogen Parker and Chris Coggins for lovingly forging this trail and building the studio. Thanks also to my professors Ben Krupka and Zoey Lubitz, and the SR Physical Plant employees.
